Apparently our relationship baffles both those that know us as individuals and those that know us as a couple. At first glance, I suppose I can see the apparent dichotomy of our relationship. I'm almost eleven years older than her. I'm 6'6" 230 lbs, she's 5'0" 125 lbs. She has an almost latin coloring and I'm pasty white with freckles and a touch of red to my hair. I'm intense and confrontational and she is easy going and tolerant. We are, total opposites in most every way I can think of, and yet, we are perfect for one another.
I love her and like doing things with her and for her. When she's happy, I'm happy. She's my wife, lover, and best friend. We stride trough life side by side daring the world to take it's best shot because together we can achieve anything. When the pressure starts to mount on one, the other is there for support. When the stupidity of others starts to weigh on one of our spirits the other is there to lift us both back up. To paraphrase Father Edward J. Flanagan "She ain't heavy Father... she's m' wife"!
Simply put, we balance each other. As corny as it may sound we are indeed two halves to a whole. Where others may see opposites; I see counterpoints comprising the tapestry of a wonderful, adventurous and happy life with the woman I love. The next time you see a giant making kissy noises at a midget out in public, maybe the question shouldn't be "why are they being so silly" but instead be, "Do I have that kind of happiness and love in my life".
