The Interweb
Apparently my ISP is having issues today. I can't access any Microsoft web sites, Facebook or AZCentral.com for Arizona news. I can access almost anything else though. This makes me think of the new "Cyber Security" bill in Congress that would give Obama the power and authority to shutdown private internet in America "in case of a cyber threat" as determined by the President. This bill would also require all ISPs to be run by a government certified "cyber security expert", which in effect, would mean the federal government. Not having access to all of the Web has driven home just how scary having the government in complete control of the internet in America could be. I can just imagine Fox News having no end of "log-in server issues". The main stream media is already Obama's lap dog, give him control of the Internet and I do believe we would be well and truly screwed as we would only have the news as manufactured by Obama and the left.

Weight update
Steph and I will be weighing in every Tuesday evening so I'll update here on Tuesdays.
After the first week I went from 242lbs to 239lbs. 3lbs isn't too shabby I guess. Just need to keep it nice and steady. My left ankle is annoying me a bit but at least I'm getting some exercise in again. Very frustrating to have to rebuild the muscle I lost while injured but thems the breaks! ;-)

Back from Omaha, NE
Howdy peeps! Been awhile since I posted here. Stephanie and I have been in Omaha, Nebraska for the past month while she was on a temporary assignment for work. I must say that I liked Omaha much more than I thought I would. The city itself was more diverse than I would have imagined since it is the middle of nowhere. The trip made me miss Arizona with a keen ache that had just begun to dull after months in Illinois. I long for the diversity of peoples and cultures of Arizona and see now that the monochromatic nature of Southern Illinois is one of the many things that I dislike so very much. It was nice to get a break though and I found that even living in a one room hotel with my wife and two cats (to whom I'm allergic) with crappy internet service wasn't too terrible. I guess as long as I have Stephanie nowhere is too bad. I know that sounds sappy but I was fairly sure we would be at each others throats being cramped together in such a small space for so long. I was pleasantly surprised when that didn't happen, if anything it brought us closer, which I wouldn't have thought was possible.
Now on a side note, the diversity of Omaha was very much represented in the excellent foods available there, of which, Steph and I partook liberally! Couple that with the fact that I injured my left foot the first week we were there and I now need to get back in shape and take off some weight. When we moved to Illinois from Arizona I weighed 220lbs and ran 2 miles a day 3 days a week. After a year in Illinois I weighed 240lbs and walked 2 miles a day 5 days a week. Fortunately being 6'6" helps hide the fat, which is located predominately on my stomach and makes me look like a pregnant pencil! A few weeks before we went to Omaha, I was down to 235lbs, running 2 miles and doing 30 minutes of strength training Mon-Wed-Fri while running 3 miles on Tues-Thurs. Now after good food and no exercise for 3 weeks I'm at 242lbs and my foot aches after walking a mile.
THE GOAL - Weigh 205lbs, bench 205lbs and run a 5k in 20mins. I will keep a record of my progress here as a way to help keep myself motivated so if anyone sees me skipping the updates or slipping backwards please feel free to yell at me! I will post an update every Friday until I hit my goals. ;-)
